Matt Henderson is an Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon. He graduated from Medical School in Johannesburg, South Africa. He trained as a General Surgeon in New Zealand with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. After completing his General Surgery training, he was selected to the Australia and New Zealand Gastro-Oesophageal Surgery Association (ANZGOSA) training program completing two years of subspecialty training focussing on surgery of the stomach and oesophagus including complex laparoscopic cancer surgery. He continues to be involved in the treatment of cancer patients in Fiona Stanley/Fremantle Hospitals.
His training included all forms of bariatric operations, the management of bariatric complications, hiatus hernia and reflux surgery.
He was convenor for the Bariatric Section of the Annual Scientific Congress for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2015.
Matt has been working as a Specialist for the past 5 years performing Bariatric Surgery at St John of God Hospitals.
He has an academic role with the University of Notre Dame as a Senior Clinical Lecturer.
